About Our Goalie School

My Story

My dream to visit Canada began in 2014 when I participated in a hockey veterans game with Phil Esposito.
Many hockey fans already know about this legendary player, playing a career in the NHL and the Canadian National Team, winning countless trophies, and later being inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Canada. At the time I spoke no English at all, but I was eager to learn about the Canada-USSR Super Series firsthand, especially since this was the opportunity of a lifetime. Chance and a bit of luck helped: In a few weeks I learned about this legendary guest from Canada and decided to prepare, ordering retro jerseys from Soviet times and pant shells to help Esposito remember his youth and all the great hockey moments that he and the Soviet hockey players created on the ice. After all, the battles against the Soviet team were the most vivid and memorable for hockey players of both countries. Not to mention, the USSR goalie Tretiak, had been a problem to Team Canada, and that included Esposito. After the game, we ended up being nearby, and he looked at my uniform, thanking me for the surprise. He jokingly said that maybe the USSR national team lacked a goalie like that in the Super Series. With the help of an interpreter, I was able to ask questions about the legendary goalie Ken Dryden and the player who had impressed him most; Valery Kharlamov. At that moment I realized that I wanted to personally immerse myself in the atmosphere of North American hockey by learning English. This was to develop my hockey skills by learning from true masters of their craft.

Myshkin, who was Tretiak's backup himself, had said "it's very hard to get on the ice when he's the best goaltender in the world! But I did not stop working". He continued waiting for his chance, and it came in 1979, when he was unexpectedly given the start instead of Tretiak at the Challenge Cup against the NHL All-Stars. Trusted by the head coach of the red machine, Myshkin did not disapoint, shutting out some of the world's best. The legendary goalie is credited with winning the Olympics, European and World Championships, as well as the Canada Cup. His story among many others inspire us to work harder, and never give up on our dream because the result will always come!
